He refused chemotherapy and treated himself alternatively. He actually succeeded in curing himself completely from the leukemia. But in the meantime, he had developed a bone cancer.
Feeling on top of it because of his success with self-treating leukemia, he didn't take this other cancer serious enough.
He's always been reckless, which everybody who knew him can confirm. According to himself, he too careless in his treatment of the bone cancer and by the time he realised that, it was too late.
He still refused chemo. His point was he had no wish growing olde and weak. His life always had happened in the fast lane and he thought he had already had a much better life than most people could even dream of.
He saw no point in prolonging his life beyond a certain minimum of life-quality.

By september this year, he had become so weak that he felt he had reached the point where life wasn't any longer worth fighting for.
His wish was to go to Namibia and die there, together with his soulmate Dia. But Covid-19 restrictions made this impossible.
He took a last trip to his base at Lake Idro. Soared to the sky a last time and went back home.
There he became ill with a gut infection. He refused medical treatment. He simply chose to die of this infection rather than letting the cancer kill him.
Weakended by 10 years of fighting cancer, his body quickly gave up.
He died on Sept. 27 in a hospital. His girlfriend Judith and his sister Brigitte were with him during his last hours.
He fell asleep and passed away peacefully, with a smile on his lips.

He will be greatly missed.

Unfortunately, I couldn't come in time to pay him his last respects. He had kept the rapid decline of his health a secret until the last moment. But that's my brother in a nutshell and I respect him for that.

André's body will be cremated today. His ash will be shared out to friends and family who will put it to rest at different places he loved, including Namibia.

There will be a rememberence ceremony at a date still to be found.

Contact me on romedbucher@gmail.com if you want to take part but don't have access to the information.

romed bucher
